Privacy Policy

What we collect

This website uses GoatCounter, a privacy-friendly analytics service, to count page views. We use the resulting statistics only to see which pages are read and how visitors find them.

When you open a page, your browser sends a request to GoatCounter with the address of the page, its title, the address of the page that linked to it (the referrer), and your screen size. Clicks on downloadable files, such as the CV, slides, or the bibliography, are counted the same way. From the request, GoatCounter also derives your browser, operating system, language, and country.

According to GoatCounter’s privacy policy, it does not store your IP address, your full User-Agent string, or any tracking identifier, and it does not use cookies. To avoid counting a single visit more than once, it keeps a random identifier linked to your IP address and User-Agent in memory for up to eight hours. GoatCounter is operated by Martin Tournoij in Ireland, and its data is hosted on servers in Finland and Germany.

If JavaScript is disabled in your browser, pages load a small image from GoatCounter instead, which counts the visit without the referrer or screen size.

Sharing information

We may disclose your personal information to appropriate third parties, such as law enforcement agencies, if legally required. We will not sell or rent any information to third parties.

This website may contain links to other websites. We have no control over the content and privacy policies of other websites. You are responsible for checking the privacy policy on these websites.

Third-party services

We do not use cookies on this website. The only third-party service is GoatCounter, described above: every page loads its counting script from gc.zgo.at and sends the page view to goatcounter.com. No page embeds any other third-party content that would load anything from another service in your browser. If this changes in the future, this section will be updated to name the service and describe what it collects.
